The LYJRO Big Band is one Seven Jazz's favourites. Their spectrum of jazz related styles ranges from swing to 'hip hop' and funk. Under the guidance of charismatic director Brendan Duffy LYJRO has organised workshops featuring eminent jazz musicians including Scott Stroman and Dave O'Higgins and projects involving several ensembles - such as their 'Global Warning' project in 2005. LYJRO have strong links to Durban, Leeds' twin town in South Africa. They will be returning to South Africa in September 2010 to perform in the Durban Festival and ndertake teaching workshops in the Ekaya Arts Centre and local schools. To make this possible, LYJRO are involved in a programme of extensive fundraising. The Seven gig is part of that fundraising - so come and enjoy a great gig and give them a big enthusiastic send off. ...more details

How to get your gig added to the Gig Guide

At present gigs are added to the calendar by a small team of volunteers and friends of Jazz Yorkshire.

We will endeavour to get your gigs added as soon as we can but it is recommended to send them over as early as you can as it might take a few weeks to get them into the guide.

It helps if you can include website links for the artist and promoter as this helps people when they want to find out more about your gig.

It will also be quicker if you can send a Word or RTF document with the details rather than just sending a printed flyer

new feature - residencies

The Gig Guide now includes pub and club gigs which take place on a weekly basis. If you organise or know of a pub gig which should be added please let us know.
